The Hayastan All-Armenian Fund’s latest gift to the Children’s Home is a brand-new minibus, which was presented to the facility on November 13.
Anna Gevorgyan, the director of the Children’s Home, says the need for a minibus has long been felt by the staff. “We often take our resident children to Yerevan for medical examinations or surgeries; we also take them to parks or various events for leisure,” Gevorgyan explains. “We can’t transport large groups of children in regular cars. Since all of the children need constant supervision and care, having a minibus would be a wonderful solution.”
The purchase of the minibus was made possible by the financial support of the Devejian, Eksercyan, and Simsiroglu families of Argentina.
The Hayastan All-Armenian Fund has implemented several projects at the Children’s Home. With support from the Fund’s German affiliate, the two buildings of the facility were completely renovated and refurnished, and the playground was refurbished. Much of the financial support for these initiatives was provided by benefactors Hamo and Tamar Krikorian, with additional funds raised through the Hayastan All-Armenian Fund’s 2011 Pan-European Phoneathon.
With the support of the Hayastan All-Armenian Fund’s Swiss affiliate, a therapy pool as well as a screening-and-diagnostics lab were built at the Children’s Home. The lab has been equipped with a state-of-the-art ultrasound machine, made possible by donations from the Devejian, Eksercyan, and Simsiroglu families.
Most recently, in June 2017, a contribution from HSBC Bank Armenia has enabled the Hayastan All-Armenian Fund to provide over $4,500 worth of equipment to the Children’s Home, including walkers, wheelchairs, massage and physical-therapy equipment, orthopedic pillows, and braces.
