Established in 1960s, the Tchaikovsky School is the only secondary school in Armenia that combines general secondary education and professional music education.
Today the school has over 610 students. According to annual statistics, nearly 80% of the Yerevan State Conservatory students are graduates after the Music School after Tchaikovsky. The graduates of the school after P. Tchaykovsky perform both on Armenian and on the international stages.
In 2011, based on the absence of music literature classroom that would meet the modern standards, Hayastan All Armenian Fund, with the support of its Swiss affilliate, established a modern audio-visual lab, which was furnished and equipped with cutting edge equipment and a collection of musical CDs and DVDs.
Hayastan All-Armenian Fund, sponsored by its Australia affiliate, refurnished the Tchaikovsky School. All necessary furniture was given to the school.
The building of the school was last renovated in 1967. The entire facility of the school is in need of renovation. The school facilities also needed refurnishing, since most of the existing furniture remained from the Soviet times.
Within the scope of Hayastan All Armenian Fund initiative the Music School after P. Tchaikovsky will be fully renovated, refurnished and reequipped according to the standards of 21st century. In the framework of the same project the school will be provided with a collection of strings and winds.
