Clean energy for children
Posted on March 16, 2018

In 2018, the Hayastan All-Armenian Fund will implement several projects aimed at developing and expanding the harnessing of solar energy in Armenia and Artsakh. One of these initiatives consists of the installation of 14 solar water heaters, each with a capacity of 500 liters, at the compound of the SOS Children’s Villages foundation in Ijevan. The project is already underway

Thanks to the utilization of solar power, the foundation will no longer need natural gas for heating water. Apart from resulting in 100-percent savings in gas costs, the use of clean, renewable energy will bring immense environmental dividends: a significantly reduced carbon footprint will mean cleaner air for the children under the foundation’s care.

The Hayastan All-Armenian Fund is carrying out the solar-power project in Ijevan in partnership with ACBA-CREDIT AGRICOLE BANK. Through its “Barerar” (“Benefactor”) Visa-card program, the bank helps the Fund implement projects that advance social change. With this program, the bank donates a portion of Visa purchases as well as annual fees to the Hayastan All-Armenian Fund. “Barerar” users can also make a set amount of monthly donations to the Fund, and even choose specific projects that will benefit from their contributions.
