On May 20, Mr. and Mrs. Vachagan and Siranush Tsakanyan hosted a delegation from the Hayastan All-Armenian Fund at their newly-built home in Chorektar, a village in Artsakh’s Shahumyan Region. The delegation comprised representatives of the Fund’s affiliates in various countries as well as Executive Director Ara Vardanyan.
The Tsakanyans are beneficiaries of a program through which low-income Artsakh families with five or more children are provided with brand-new homes. The Tsakanyan family’s home was built, furnished, and equipped with appliances through the financial support of the Hayastan All-Armenian Fund’s Brazilian affiliate, with additional support from the government of Artsakh. Prior to moving into their new house, the Tsakanyans were tenants, living in a cramped, dilapidated residence.
Vachagan and Siranush have six children — four boys and two girls. Their lives have been transformed ever since they’ve moved into their bright, beautiful, spacious new home. Now the Tsakanyans are planning to have a seventh child.
Since 2016, the Hayastan All-Armenian Fund has built 28 homes in Artsakh and donated them to low-income families with five or more children. Currently the Fund is building seven more homes, with plans to construct two additional ones in the near future.
