Mataghis village is located in Nagorno Karabakh, Martakert region. During the national liberation struggle of the NKR, the Mataghis village has been occupied and ruined by the enemy. Among the tens of destroyed structures was the school building. The village was reconstructed, but there was no school building and the lessons for 66 pupils were conducted in the houses adjusted for that purpose. The construction of a new school building become a priority problem for Mataghis. According to the project, the works should be carried out in two phases. The first stage included the construction of the educational building, boiler house, sanitation system in the yard, water pipeline and electric power line as well as improvement of area and procurement of furniture. The second phase included construction of the gym hall, playground, and fence. Due to the project 120 students were provided with appropriate conditions for secondary education. In April, 2016, as a result of four-day clashes between Armenia and Azerbaijan, Mataghis was precisely destroyed, especially the school of the village was left in damaged in some parts of it. During the working visit, it became clear that the school must be partially renovated. With the support of Hayastan Foundation Toronto, the Hayastan All-Armenian Fund is implementing a number of renovations at the secondary school of Mataghis. Currently the renovation works are going to be completed, and the education will be continued. Within the framework of the project, the roof and the sanitary units have been partially repaired, as well as doors and windows have been replaced with new ones. Press-granite floors were installed in the corridors and the hall. The external furbishing works were also implemented.
