For many years, the patients diagnosed with malignant tumors were treated in a hospital built in the 1960s, which did not meet the standards of modern healthcare. Because of the poor conditions, it was impossible to receive adequate treatment in Stepanakert, and the patients had to seek assistance beyond the borders of Artsakh with many people traveling to Yerevan for medical assistance. Taking into consideration the existing situation and in line with its mission to develop the healthcare sector of Artsakh, Hayastan All Armenian Fund has built a new, modern oncology center in Stepanakert. The center will make it possible to carry out modern therapeutic and diagnostic procedures with the exclusion of chemotherapy, which is a feature that will be added in the future. The center is composed of a basement and 3 ground floors. An underground passage links the center's basement with the Republican Medical Center. The general and clinical laboratories, paedomorphism laboratories, x-ray diagnostics, mammography rooms, conference hall, staff changing rooms and medical archives are located in the basement. The dispensary is designed for 35 patients. The center also includes three wards with 16 beds, which are designated as secure areas for treatment during wartime.
