Project

Stepanavan was among the settlements mostly destroyed by the 1988 Spitak earthquake. Under the town development plan a construction of a new district for 3,000 people on the left bank of the Dzoraget River was started in 1989. However, due to an insufficient funding for maintenance of the constructed facilities, they were gradually destroyed. In particular, there is an urgent need to accomplish the construction of a sewage pipeline for the streets #4, 5, 10, 16, 17, 18 and 19, the construction of which began after the earthquake, but was not completed at that time. Since the pipeline does not reach the nearby collector, the wastes are collected in the yard of the kindergarten thus creating danger of serious epidemic situation. Also, the sewage of the 1A street of the 4th micro-district is destroyed which leads to the wastes being collected on the street, hence creating unsanitary situation. The total length of the damaged section of the pipeline is 450 meters. Additionally, the part of the main sewage of the district is destroyed with total length of 320 meters. Similar situation is created on Surb Nshan Street, where the sewage constructed in 1963, has been deteriorated. The total length of the damaged section of the pipeline on this street is 450 meters.
