Hayastan All Armenian Fund delegation visits Tavush Region
On May 16, a delegation comprising chairpersons and other representatives of the Hayastan All Armenian Fund’s worldwide affiliates visited the Tavush Region of Armenia. Led by Ara Vardanyan, the fund’s acting executive director, the delegation participated in the opening ceremonies of several fund-sponsored projects including the gas pipelines of Khashtarak, Lusahovit (sponsored by Mother See Holy Etchmiadzin), and Aknaghbyur (sponsored by Armenia Fund USA); the irrigation-water pipeline of Aknaghbyur (sponsored by Armenia Fund USA); and the renovated health clinic of Khashtarak (sponsored by the Fund’s Netherlands Affiliate).

The ceremonies were attended by Armen Ghularyan, governor of Tavush; Archbishop Sepuh Chuljyan, primate of the See of Gugark; Archpriest Sasun Zmrukhtyan, vicar-general of the Tavush Region; and a large number of local residents and community leaders.

Throughout the events, the guests were welcomed with traditional bread and salt, dhol and zurna music, and words of gratitude.

The ceremonies kicked off in Aknaghbyur, at the memorial for fallen soldiers, whose eternal flame served as a focal symbol for the opening of the Khashtarak, Lusahovit, and Aknaghbyur gas pipelines. Also in Aknaghbyur, the guests visited another landmark, the General Vardan Mamikonian chapel, and attended the opening ceremony of the community’s irrigation-water pipeline.

Later, in Khashtarak, the Hayastan All Armenian Fund delegation attended the opening ceremony of the community’s restored health clinic. Cutting the red ribbon was Nubar Sepoyan, chair of the fund’s Netherlands affiliate.

The delegation’s itinerary in Tavush was rounded out with visits to the construction sites of the fund’s current projects in the villages of Ditavan and Lusahovit.

“I hope that the newly built structures will serve these communities well into the future,” Vardanyan said. “While the lives of the residents are continuously being improved, our current projects are poised to bring ever-brighter milestones in the social and economic development of the Tavush Region.”
