2009 President's Prize awards ceremony
The Hayastan All-Armenian Fund administers the prize for the past ten years
Today, on May 13, 2010, the official awarding ceremony of the President’s Prize 2009 was held at the residence of President of the Republic of Armenia. The President’s Prize is sponsored by the France-based Boghossian Foundation.

Awards were bestowed on 21 winners, who were selected from a pool of 137 candidates in 13 categories.

During the awards ceremony, President Serzh Sargsyan delivered the keynote address and presented the awards. Speaking about the importance of all the works President placed a special emphasis on the accomplishments of two organizations, Association Suisse-Arménie (Switzerland) and the International Association of Genocide Scholars (Ireland), which were awarded the President’s Prize for their outstanding contributions to international recognition of the Armenian Genocide.
“Your achievements help to create a better future for our country. My congratulations on this Prize and wish you many new accomplishments in the future,” said the President.

The awardee in the Vocal performance of classical music, opera singer Gurgen Baveyan said that the prize will give him confidence every time he goes on the stage.

The awards ceremony was complemented by a concert at the Komitas Chamber Music Hall featuring top singers and instrumentalists, all of whom are past recipients of the President’s Prize in the Classical Music category.

“We are proud that ever since its inception, the Hayastan All-Armenian Fund has been entrusted to administer the President’s Prize,” said Ara Vardanyan, executive director of the Fund.

To date 161 scholars, scientists, and artists have been awarded the prestigious President’s Prize. A great many of the recipients, among them 40 accomplished youths, have gone on to earn international acclaim. Past winners of the prize include writers Razmik Davoyan, Alexander Topchyan, and Aghasi Ayvazyan, visual artists Henrik Igityan, Robert Elibekyan, and Arshak Sargsyan, scientist Vazgen Melikyan, sociologist Lyudmila Harutyunyan, and singers Arsen Soghomonyan, Gevorg Hakobyan, and the Arshakyan sisters.
