donor(s)/sponsor(s): Hayastan All Armenian Fund - France , Government of NKR
start date:  2013 October
end date:  2016 May
status: Ongoing
Background:

Karmir Shuka village with population of 1061 people is located 35 km from Martuni town. The main occupation of the residents is agriculture and cattle breeding. Hayastan All Armenian Fund has already implemented the construction of potable water supply system in Karmir Shuka.

Problem:

The community needs a municipality building. The school building is significantly damaged. The construction works of the new school building are in the process. Karmir Shuka community has a kindergarten which accommodates 66 children. The community has dispensary and events hall. The road to Stepanakert is renovated. Karmir Shuka community uses electrification and gasification system.

Solution:

Hayastan All Armenian Fund is building a new, multi-functional community center in Karmir Shuka village of Martuni region. The community center will be a two-story multifunctional building, which will include community administration offices, an events hall, a library, a computer lab and a health care point with a separate entrance. The building will also have a foyer, sanitary units as well as auxiliary facilities. The community center will be fully furnished and provided with computers. Heating and ventilation systems will also be installed.

Community centers are of vital importance to the ongoing social and economic development of rural areas in Armenia and Artsakh. They help streamline public services, foster a more dynamic civic life, and, ultimately, provide residents with one more compelling reason to continue living and working in their hometowns.
The construction of the Karmir Shuka community center will effectively tackle a number of long-standing issues for the village making the life of the residents of the community that much easier and more comfortable.
