Hayastan Fund directs 14.545 US dollars towards Kessab ArmeniansAs part of an ongoing effort to provide urgent assistance to the displaced Armenian community of Kessab, the Hayastan All-Armenian Fund Executive Board in Yerevan transferred 14,545 US dollars to the Armenian Embassy in Syria today. The funds will be distributed to families who were forced to flee Kessab and whose safety remains threatened.
Kessab has been home to generations of Genocide survivors and their descendants. It has grown into one of the Middle East’s most vibrant Armenian communities, with schools, churches, and cultural institutions. The town’s historical significance also pertains to the fact that it is the last, and largest, portion of the medieval Kingdom of Cilicia to be populated mainly by Armenians.
The Hayastan All-Armenian Fund is appealing to Armenians worldwide to help save Kessab and boost the morale of its victimized Armenian community.
